Old Blue Last social profile
Project type
Digital
Working directly with the owners, Vice magazine, I created a fully customised social media profile for The Old Blue Last, their iconic East London music venue. The project combined visual design, front-end coding and music culture, creating a digital presence that felt more distinctive and venue-specific than a standard profile page.
//The Design Process
Custom digital design: I designed a bespoke profile layout that reflected The Old Blue Last’s identity as an influential live music venue, giving the page a stronger visual presence and clearer sense of personality.
Front-end build: I coded the profile using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, translating the design into a working customised digital experience rather than relying on off-the-shelf styling.
Client collaboration: I worked with Vice to make sure the final design felt appropriate for the venue, its audience and its position within London’s independent music scene.
Culture-led execution: I shaped the look and feel around the energy of the venue itself, creating something that felt raw, direct and connected to live music rather than overly corporate or generic.
//The Project Result
Distinctive online presence: the customised profile helped The Old Blue Last stand out online, giving the venue a more memorable and ownable digital identity.
Design and code delivery: the project demonstrated both creative direction and hands-on technical production, moving from concept to coded implementation.
Audience fit: the final profile reflected the venue’s music-focused character and appealed to an audience familiar with nightlife, gigs, independent culture and Vice’s wider tone.
Flexible digital thinking: the work showed how a small digital space could be treated as a branded experience, using design and code to make a standard platform feel more personal, expressive and engaging.
